Receiving Specialist

Job Description

Lake County Press is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Bilingual Receiving Specialist to
assist with all receiving operations within the warehouse. This role is responsible for ensuring
the accurate, timely, and safe receipt of raw materials and finished goods while maintaining
high standards of quality, efficiency, and organization. The Receiving Specialist plays a key role in
supporting company performance goals through effective leadership, cross-functional
collaboration, and adherence to safety and quality procedures. This position may assist other
departments as business needs require and is expected to promptly report and address any
safety or quality concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, unpack, and inspect incoming shipments by verifying identifying information, quantities, weights, and measurements against bills of lading, purchase orders, invoices, and other documentation.
  • Identify, document, and reject damaged items; record shortages and coordinate with the appropriate Account Coordinator/ Web Specialist to resolve discrepancies.
  • Accurately receive incoming shipments into Vera core, PSI, & File Makersystems; generate and affix warehouse labels and placards as required.
  • Assign received materials to optimal warehouse locations to maximize efficiency and space utilization.
  • Route materials to appropriate departments in a timely manner.
  • Maintain inventory of receiving supplies and materials.
  • Identify & document returned orders to appliable account coordinator/ web specialist.
  • Assist with inventory moves/transfers to consolidate inventory.
  • Operate and maintain forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material-handling equipment to move shipments from receiving to storage or work areas.
  • Ensure receiving areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Assist with receiving raw materials and finished goods, including warehousing and the handling
    of salvage and waste products.

Education & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or vocational training preferred.
  • Prior experience in a warehouse, fulfillment, or manufacturing/assembly environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems and data collection tools.

  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Basic math skills for inventory control and quality assurance.
  • Ability to take initiative, adapt to changing priorities, and respond quickly to operational needs.
  • Ability to consistently meet data collection and documentation requirements as defined by quality standards and management.

Physical Requirements

  • Qualified and certified in the operation of forklifts and pallet trucks.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes or products weighing up to 50–70 pounds.
  • Able to handle small parts and components. • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced warehouse and production environment.
