Celebrating Heli Patel’s Journey to U.S. Citizenship
We’re proud to congratulate our own Heli Patel on becoming a U.S. Citizen!
Heli officially took her oath of citizenship last week. She joined Lake County Press in February as part of our
Web Development team, bringing enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication to every project.
When asked why she wanted to become a U.S. citizen, Heli shared, “Coming to the U.S. is a dream. The U.S. is a dream country, with so many opportunities.” She explained that living here during her path to citizenship gave her the chance to learn from many different people and cultures—a journey she found both humbling and inspiring.
Heli described the process as one that takes patience and organization. Her advice for others:
“Make sure you have all your documents, ask questions, and don’t leave anything out. If you can follow that, your process should be smooth.”
Heli’s family still lives in India, and she hopes her experience will help guide her brother and others who aspire to follow a similar path. She wants to share what she’s learned about the opportunities available in the U.S. while encouraging others to bring their own culture and knowledge to enrich the communities they join.
Heli says she feels like she’s “won big” by achieving citizenship and being part of the LCP family. We couldn’t agree more—congratulations, Heli!
