Siemens Industry
Siemens Industry helps companies increase productivity and efficiency of its manufacturing operations. Its machine and plant maintenance services range from planning and design to operation and modernization.
But when it came to its own marketing materials, its processes were anything but productive. The company purchased printed materials in bulk and stored them onsite in an office warehouse. This method was certainly not cost effective and lead to issues with obsolesce and mixing of current and outdated materials. Inventory control was nonexistent, leading to inaccurate accounting. Its processes also conflicted with a corporate-wide sustainability initiative that was already underway.
Lake County Press contracted with Siemens Industry to define and scope out the statement of work for the storage and printing of its marketing materials. Over a 9-month long process of collaborative meetings with marketing and purchasing, we helped Siemens develop an efficient process of ordering and fulfilling their marketing materials, as well as define a return on investment or total cost of ownership for each division.
LCP designed and developed a custom website that houses all of their marketing collateral and training educational products. The website was designed and skinned to be compliant with Siemens Brand standards and allows the marketing managers of each division to ensure the brand guidelines are being followed. The system enables marketing managers to view usage and inventory levels of each marketing piece, helping to minimize obsolesce. The sustainability was reinforced by utilizing a print-on-demand model for field sales reps so they could only order what is needed at the time.
The project was launched in 2009 and has grown to over 2,000 users as of the start of 2014 fiscal year. LCP has continued to work alongside the numerous power users of the system and have developed custom programing and reporting for each division that is relevant to them and the defined metrics and associated analytics that they require.
This is an example of a collaborative relationship and truly working together with a client to understand the goals and help to define the plan to attain those goals.
