Case Study – Global Dashboard
LCP embarked on developing a CMS for our Chamberlain College of Nursing to be accessed by all Chamberlain colleagues that displays vital campus and online program dates, high level personnel and other pertinent information. The system includes and dashboard navigation to easily guide users to the type of content they are looking for. Various types of content can be edited by select users. Access levels are managed through the roles and permissions based system resulting in a self-service platform. All content edits are controlled through a workflow system that requires approval by one or more stakeholders depending on the piece of content being affected.
Under the hood, LCP has maximized the power of this solution by eliminating any need for content being stored in more than one location. Today the content in the CMS is being “pushed” to more than four hundred variable data products including acceptance letters, brochures, flyers, orientation guides, commencement books and many others. Although today the content is driving print and online solutions, it has been built to feed any type of media in the futures. This solution was deployed in a phased approach:
Phase 1 - Display only. This phase was included to enable colleagues to get acclimated to the new system and verify that all necessary data was present and accurate.
Phase 2 - Limited editing. Editable fields by select colleagues with automated email approval notifications including a summary of the requested change. Once changes are approved, the edited content is pushed live for all users to view as read only. Dashboard remains read only to none-editor users. All Chamberlain kits are also available as read only for all users to access.
Phase 3 – Expand the content. We have expanded the CMS to include supporting graphics such as signatures and photos. The solution has also expanded into some non-traditional types of content including all kits allowing select users to request and manage the content of kits in real time all while honoring the workflow approval process.
